Hiking

The mountain ridge at the outer part of Tröllaskagi offers a variety of hikes. Two very good hiking maps for the area are available which show ancient routes used by people traveling in the country side here in Tröllaskagi. Most of them aren’t long trips but can be difficult hikes. Botnaleið being the most popular from Fljót to Siglufjörður and marked with sticks along the way. The old route around Siglufjarðarskarð is also quite popular and is also closed for car traffic. The route through Ólafsfjarðarskarð to Ólafsfjörður or to Héðinsfjörður are also one day’s trip from Fljót.
